For porcelain painters
For the orange of the goldfish I used 'orange 84'" of Degusa. I fired it at 840C as I always do with objects that are for eating from. Orange 84 is a colour without cadmium, so I had hoped that I would be able to mix it with mixing yellow, also from Degussa, but a little experiment on a separate tile told me that that was not a good idea. So I applied the orange twice thickly, firing in between, and shaded it with some dark grey and it worked. I love the bright orange colour against the pale green.
The bowls are bone china and it gives the paint a lovely shine after firing.
