For somebody who works in a shoe shop.
Succesful women still have both feet on the ground but wear better shoes,

Six plates with a bicycle theme and sayings like:
Life is like riding a bike: You have to keep moving to keep your balance
and
I don't know if it is illegal to be handsome and ride a bike at the same time, but whatever, I live dangerously
The plates are bone china which gives a lovely shine to the pictures

Just the bees knees for a girl who loves bees
For my brother who still is a marine at heart and needs to break out of the office every now and then.
Obviously my nephew Rick really likes his Lego.
I still like the little rowing boat on the handle of the beker.
A little tea service for my son's girlfriend and some bowls to go with it. Can you guess my son's name? |

Sunflowers and aeroplanes. Not the most obvious combination. It almost gave me a headache how to meld the two together but I think it worked in the end. My daughter was happy anyway! |

A breakfast set for my niece, Kim, who loves horses. I felt that the loose elements of the signs needed to be brought together and I got inspired by a British artist named Les Matthews. He works on canvas and the effect he achieves is stunning and much more subtle than my effort, but it was fun trying ! .http://www.lesmatthews.co.uk/

Sea, sun, sand, salt, surf for Saskia, my daughter
Not only does she like to surf, she is a freerunner too. Freerunners are the people who jump from roof to roof and do roly-polies off walls etc., so 'go with the flow'. The children building a dam are my own three children. I used a photograph. |
|
A bowl with the skylines of two cities with freerunners jumping over them.
Again for my daughter Saskia, who studies in England but her freerunning buddies are in the Netherlands. The symbol is the symbol of her club and on the inside some 'cool dudes' doing acrobatics show up when she has eaten her greens |

For our friends. She is a stay-at-home mum and a keen gardener and her husband is a career tiger but happy to help her out in the garden.
So with these mugs everybody knows their place. |

I made this plate for a friend who loves sailing, but has two children with Cystic Fibrosis and therefore quite often the wind against her. In the middle it says:
I can't control the wind but I can adjust the sail On the outer circle in the water it says Wind - Water - Turbulent - Blowing On the boats and the sails I have used letters and numbers that have a special meaning to them, like a house number and initials of names. |
A dog bowl for Monty. Of course with it's name on it, but also commands and words that are related to dogs, like -poo- wait for it!-bark-campanion etc.
I use the computer to mix and match the different fonts in Word and copy them with carbon paper onto the bowl. |
