A little bit about me
I am Dorry
I have always been creative. As a child I loved craft, drawing and painting and in my free time I have done several art courses. My other passion is cooking and I like to present my dishes in a stylish way so I love beautiful china and tableware. In 1998 I read an article in the paper about porcelain painting and did a workshop. I realised that porcelain painting could bring my two passions together. I envisaged making my own Christmas and Easter services and making personal presents for people. So I took porcelain painting classes, first with Marion van Limborg, then with Marian Kools and later with Kamilla de Waal.
In fact after 15 years of painting I still don't have my own Christmas service as porcelain painting is a very time consuming hobby for which I need peace and quiet in order to let those creative ideas bubble up from deep within. With 3 children, those moments were quite rare!
As I like my creations to be used in daily life, I am not so interested in purely decorative techniques like luster, gold, relief etc.
What I do like is:

What I do like is:
- to incorporate the shape of the porcelain object into my design
- to tell a story, preferably one that brings a smile to your face
- to incorporate quotes or words in my designs to make make personal presents, making use of hobbies, favourite colours, fingerprints etc.
- As I am married to a Brit and surrounded by expats the Dutch theme keeps coming back but in an original way (I hope)
- I love everything to do with the sea and the beach
